Signs You Need a New Roof
Ever feel like your roof is trying to tell you something? Maybe it's giving you a gentle reminder with a small leak... or maybe it's straight-up yelling at you by dropping shingles in your yard. Either way, your roof might be due for a replacement. Let’s break it down in simple terms!
1. Your Roof is Older Than Your First Cell Phone
If your roof is over 20 years old, it might be time to say goodbye. Roofs don’t last forever, and just like that old flip phone you had in middle school, it might not be working as well as it used to.
2. You Find Shingles in Your Yard… A Lot
A couple of stray shingles after a storm? Not a huge deal. But if your yard is starting to look like a roofing supply store, that’s a big red flag. Missing shingles mean your roof is exposed and vulnerable to leaks.
3. Your Roof Looks Like a Wavy Potato Chip
Take a step back and look at your roof. Is it nice and flat, or does it have dips, waves, or weird bumps? If it looks like it belongs in the snack aisle, you might have some serious structural issues.
4. Your Attic is a Mini Rainforest
Go up to your attic after a rainy day. If you see water stains, moisture, or (heaven forbid) mold, your roof isn’t doing its job. A good roof should keep the rain outside where it belongs.
5. Your Energy Bill is Creeping Up
If your energy bill is mysteriously rising, your roof’s insulation might be failing. A bad roof lets heat escape in the winter and traps it in during summer, making your AC and heater work overtime.
6. Your Neighbors Are All Getting New Roofs
If everyone around you is getting a new roof, there’s a good chance yours is next. Houses built around the same time usually need roof replacements at the same time too.
7. Your Roof is Just Plain Ugly
Sometimes, your roof isn’t necessarily falling apart, but it looks awful. If it’s stained, faded, or covered in algae, a new roof can boost your home’s curb appeal (and its value!).
